Department Description

The Health Informatics and Management Program offers 4-course Graduate Certificates in three different areas - 1) Health Management, 2) Health Informatics, and 3) Health Policy. Many students complete one of these certificate programs before seeking admission to the HI&M Master’s 51视频 program, as the certificate courses are accepted as credits toward the Master’s degree. Moreover, students who complete one of the certificate programs with a grade point average of 3.5 or better are not required to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) in applying for admission into the MS program.

51视频 is one of the largest accredited online education providers in New England. As developed under a blended learning grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and its Sloan-C initiative, the HI&M program offers graduate studies in a blended format that offers "the best of both worlds" - combining face-to-face and online classes - providing a more accessible program of study for busy healthcare, IT ad other professionals.

Admission Requirements

  • Official transcript indicating graduation from an accredited baccalaureate institution;
  • A one-page Statement of Purpose indicating career plans, interests and objectives in pursuing graduate study;
  • TOEFL scores must be submitted if the applicant is a citizen of a non-English speaking country and has never earned an academic degree in the United States.  (Minimum 600 paper-based, 250 computer-based, or 100 Internet-based); and
  • A personal interview, either in-person or via phone.

Although a background in health is not required for admission, applicants with significant health industry work experience are given preference when program capacity is limited.  For applicants without health-related work or educational experience, one’s academic record and professional work experience is especially important.

Applications can be submitted and evaluated at any time.  We nevertheless recommend that applicants seeking admission for the Fall semester have applications complete by May 15, and that applicants seeking admission for the Spring semester have applications complete by December 15.
