The program consists of 2 prerequisites:  Micro Economics and Statistics plus the 6 (2 credit) courses listed below that represents an excellent opportunity for people with non-business backgrounds to obtain a graduate business certificate. Graduate students in the certificate program who are subsequently accepted into the 51ÊÓÆµ AACSB accredited MBA program may apply certificate courses with grades of B or better to their MBA degree.

Required Core Courses:

12 Credit Hours — six courses at two credit hours each with prerequisite coursework in Microeconomics (49.201) and Statistics (49.211)

Students must hold an undergraduate degree for admission into a certificate program. A GMAT exam is not required for certificate programs. An undergraduate transcript must be supplied by student when applying.

New Venture Creation

The certificate prepares a professional to create a new technology-based business.  In essence, the task is to learn how to take Intellectual Property and convert that knowledge into an investable business entity. The certificate is designed for science, engineering, or business master’s-level students who have completed most of their formal studies and are approaching the time to put their career knowledge to work. It is also designed to provide career enhancing education as well as to place the certificate candidate into an actual start-up business that would serve as a future full-time position.

66.616 New Venture Practicum 1
66.617 New Venture Practicum 2
One Elective: Selected in consultation with Program Coordinator

Additional Admissions Requirements:  A minimum of 20 hours of graduate-level credit; personal interview.
