Setting up a participatory program requires some preparation. Research shows that participatory programs work best when specific organizational resources, competencies, and leadership support are in place.

Follow the steps below to assess your organization鈥檚 resources and create an action plan for program start-up.

  1. Take the (ORT-Q) with key stakeholders.

  2. Become familiar with the 24-item version of the survey, the Organizational Readiness Tool for Diagnostic and Planning (ORT-DP), by viewing the聽ORT Survey Topics Handout (pdf).
  3. Request the ORT Toolkit materials using the . The ORT Toolkit manual includes:
    • Instructions for Survey Administration to guide you in using the ORT-Q or the ORT-DP in your organization
    • Print versions of the ORT-Q and ORT-DP surveys
    • The ORT Scoring Tool Spreadsheet (xlsx) to calculate scores
    • Using Your Scores for Action Planning Matrix
  4. Use the survey results and the ORT Action Planning Matrix to help build your organization's readiness for your new Total Worker Health庐 program.

Once you have taken the survey, you are ready to: Gather Management Input and Support. This step is vital for the successful initiation of the program.
