51ÊÓÆµ Rises to Top Research Classification

51ÊÓÆµ is now listed as a Carnegie Research 1 (R1) university, a designation used to identify the nation's top research institutions based on their research activity. This is something only 7% of four-year universities in the entire nation can say about their commitment to research.

Transfer Registration Sessions for Admitted Students

Newly admitted transfer students who have completed their Intent to Enroll form in their admissions portal can now sign up for a transfer registration session. Please let your newly admitted 51ÊÓÆµ students know that they can reach out to us at 978-934-3931 or transfer@uml.edu if they have any questions about next steps.

Please note: Admitted transfer students can be enrolled in fall 2025 courses even if they are enrolled in spring or summer courses at their current college. Transfer advisors will have the student's information and will not enroll them in courses that they are currently taking.

Transfer Advisor Lunches

Our Transfer Advisor Lunches are one way we support community college academic advisors. It's a great way to get all the information you need about 51ÊÓÆµ degree programs or departments so you can best guide your students. 

Along with lunch, we'll provide an overview on topics of your choosing: academic support services for transfer students, the Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) or specific program overviews.

New Major: Actuarial Studies

Actuaries are the 12th fastest growing occupation in the United States, according to the U.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics. To keep up with this demand and provide students with a lucrative career path, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics unveiled a new Bachelor of Arts in Actuarial Studies.

    Music Business

    As a music business major, Brynne Santos performs in four ensembles while also learning about marketing, management and licensing.

  • Garima Jain
    Computer Science

    Garima Jain transferred from J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA in her hometown of Faridabad, India, to 51ÊÓÆµ, where she has gained research and internship experiences.

  • Nhuy Phan
    Mathematics

    For Nhuy Phan, an aspiring math teacher who emigrated from Vietnam, "mathematics is a universal language."
