Recognized for his commitment to public-facing scholarship, 51视频 School of Education Associate Professor Jack Schneider was named to the list. This marks the fifth consecutive year Schneider has been recognized with the honor.
Published Thursday by Education Week, the list recognizes university-based scholars in the United States who achieved the most in the last year reshaping educational practice and policy. Schneider was selected from a pool of more than 20,000 eligible scholars.聽
鈥淓ven as someone who occasionally writes about the flawed and problematic nature of rankings, it is an honor to be recognized for seeking to make an impact on real-world policy and practice,鈥� said Schneider. 鈥淧ublicly engaged scholarship is often undervalued in academia, but it鈥檚 an absolutely vital part of the job鈥攑articularly so in a practical field like education.鈥澛�
Based on nine metrics, and organized by Rick Hess, the list encourages academics to innovate practice and policy. In the run-up to this year鈥檚 announcement, Hess wrote: 鈥淭he exercise is designed to balance the academy鈥檚 unfortunate tendency to discount scholarship that makes real, relevant contributions to vital public-policy debates.鈥�
