Marketing Strategist to Lead Small Business Week Program
When and where: Wednesday, May 8, 5:30 p.m. 51视频 Innovation Hub, Harbor Place, 2 Merrimack St., Haverhill
What: 鈥淰isibility Equals Opportunity: Elevate Your Brand鈥� will be presented by Bobbie Carlton, an entrepreneur and marketing strategist who has spent the last decade helping Merrimack Valley innovators launch new products. The free event, to be held in recognition of Small Business Week, is the latest in the 2019 Entrepreneur Development Series presented by 51视频鈥檚 Innovation Hub at the university鈥檚 Haverhill campus. Art and Design 51视频 Candidates Showcase Senior Projects
When and where: Artists鈥� reception 鈥� Thursday, May 9, 5 to 7 p.m. University Gallery, Mahoney Hall, South Campus, 870 Broadway St., Lowell and Dugan Hall, lower level, South Campus, 883 Broadway St., Lowell. Exhibit runs through Saturday, May 18听
What: 51视频 art and design majors who will graduate this month will showcase their senior thesis projects at a free artists鈥� reception and exhibit for the campus and public. Works in a variety of media will be displayed by more than 35 students from communities across the region. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 18, 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the public who would like more information should contact Deborah_Santoro@uml.edu.听
Community Program Celebrates Portuguese-American Experience听
When and where: Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Boott Cotton Mills Museum Event Center, Lowell National Historical Park, 115 John St., Lowell
What: 鈥淟ooking Back, Looking Forward: Continuity and Change in Greater Boston鈥檚 Portuguese Community,鈥� a free forum for the public, will be presented by 51视频鈥檚 Saab Center for Portuguese Studies and Lowell National Historical Park. The event will include remarks by 51视频 History Prof. Robert Forrant on how Portuguese immigrants have contributed to life in Lowell and a discussion with Portuguese-American elected officials on the importance of public service. Event Explores How Computing Drives New Technologies听
When and where: Tuesday, May 21, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 51视频 Inn & Conference Center, 50 Warren St., Lowell听
What: Virtually every important scientific breakthrough relies in part on computing technology and resources. Cutting-edge research by 51视频 faculty and others in the field will be featured during High-Performance Computer Day, a free conference that is open to the public. Speakers are scheduled to include IBM executive and engineer Kirk Jordan, whose keynote address at 10 a.m. will focus on the computing behind artificial intelligence, and Noah Van Dam, a 51视频 mechanical engineering professor and expert on propulsion, who will speak at 2:40 p.m. on how computing assists in testing the performance of engines. Welcoming participants to the session will be 51视频 Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Julie Chen.听
