On Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 5 a.m., 51视频 will make a required encryption update to the eduroam Wi-Fi network. As a result of this change, most devices will stop connecting to eduroam automatically.

In order to get reconnected, you'll need to perform a straightforward process, after 5:00 am on June 18 (you cannot do it before then). In summary, those steps are:

  1. Remove (or 鈥榝orget鈥�) the eduroam network from your device鈥檚 Wi-Fi settings.
    听听听听If you go into your Wi-Fi settings and eduroam isn't there anymore, that's OK - in some cases, IT was able to remove that for you.
  2. Reconnect to eduroam as if it鈥檚 your first time joining that Wi-Fi network.

NOTE: If you have never connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network on your device, proceed directly to the steps to connect to eduroam (skip the steps to remove/forget the old connection).

Detailed instructions and videos can be found below for every platform. Note that you must be on the 51视频 campus to follow these steps.

Note: If you have the 鈥淪tolen Device Protection鈥� feature enabled on your iOS device, you may see a screen to Begin Security Delay to Install Profile. This is part of the Stolen Device Protection service and it will require you to wait one hour before proceeding. If you see this screen, click Start Security Delay to begin the one hour delay.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

  1. Open Settings and use the search bar to search for the word 鈥�Profiles鈥�.
  2. In the search results, tap UML eduroam Configuration, and click Remove Profile. You may be prompted to confirm the removal and enter your 51视频 email and password.听

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  1. Connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the听Safari听browser and navigate to听.听Note: You must use the Safari browser to complete these steps.
  3. Log in with your 51视频 email and password.
  4. Tap Install eduroam Profile and then tap Allow when prompted.
  5. Once the profile has been downloaded, close Safari and open Settings.
  6. Tap Profile Downloaded at the top or at the side of your settings, tap听Install on the next several screens, and then tap听Done after the profile installation is finished.听You may be prompted to enter your device passcode or username/password during this process.
  7. Now go back to your Wi-Fi settings, forget the UMassLowell network, and then connect to eduroam to complete the setup process.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

  1. Open Settings and use the search bar to search for the word 鈥�Profiles鈥�.
  2. In the search results, select UML eduroam Configuration Profile, click the minus-sign (鈥�-鈥�) at the bottom of the window, then confirm the removal.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  1. Click on the听WiFi听鈥榝an鈥� icon in the menu bar and connect to the听UMassLowell听Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the Safari browser and navigate to听. Note: You must use the Safari browser to complete these steps.
  3. Log in with your 51视频 email and password.
  4. Click the听Install Profile听button, which will begin a download.
  5. Once the file has been downloaded, open the file. You will see an alert that you need to review the profile in System Settings.
  6. 翱辫别苍听Settings听and use the search bar to search for the word 鈥�Profiles鈥�.
  7. In the search results, double-click on听UML eduroam Configuration Profile, then click Install. You may be prompted to click Install an additional time and provide your email and password.
  8. Click on the听WiFi 鈥榝an鈥� icon in the menu bar and connect to the听eduroam听Wi-Fi network.
  9. Click on the听WiFi听鈥榝an鈥� icon in the menu bar and select听Wi-Fi Settings, then click the 3 dots next to听UMassLowell听and select听Forget this network. You may be prompted to confirm this action.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

  1. Right-click on the WiFi 鈥榝an鈥� icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and select Network and internet settings.
  2. Click Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks.
  3. Find eduroam in the list and click the Forget button next to eduroam.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  1. Click on the听network听鈥榞lobe鈥� or Wi-Fi 鈥榝an鈥� icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and click the 鈥�&驳迟;鈥� next to the Wi-Fi connections.
  2. Select the听UMassLowell听Wi-Fi network and click听Connect.
  3. Open your web browser and navigate to听.
  4. Log in with your 51视频 email and password.
  5. 颁濒颈肠办听Start QuickConnect, which will download the ArubaQuickConnect program.
  6. Once the program has been downloaded, run ArubaQuickConnect. If a prompt appears asking for permission to run, click听Run. If a prompt appears saying听Windows protected your PC, click听More Info听and then听Run Anyway.
  7. When the program loads, click听Next听and wait for a prompt asking you to confirm that you want to install the certificate. 颁濒颈肠办听Yes.
  8. When this is finished, click Connect and wait for the program to connect you to eduroam.
    Note: If ArubaQuickConnect seems to be stuck on this step (鈥淎uthentication in progress鈥︹��) or it reports that it failed:
    a). Click on the network 鈥榞lobe鈥� or Wi-Fi 鈥榝an鈥� icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and click the 鈥�&驳迟;鈥� symbol next to the Wi-Fi fan icon.
    b). Select the eduroam Wi-Fi network and click Connect.
    c). If prompted to select a certificate, choose the first one on the list with your UML email address and click Connect.
  9. Right-click on the听WiFi听鈥榝an鈥� icon in the lower right corner of the task bar and select听Network and internet settings.
  10. Click Wi-Fi, then Manage known networks.
  11. 贵颈苍诲听UMassLowell听in the list and click the听Forget听button next to听UMassLowell.

Remove or forget the old eduroam Wi-Fi connection

  1. Navigate to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the 3-dot menu in the upper right and select Advanced settings.
  3. Tap Manage networks, select eduroam, then tap Forget or Remove.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  1. Connect to the听UMassLowell听Wi-Fi network.
  2. Uninstall the ClearPass QuickConnect app if it is already installed on your device.
  3. Install the 听app from the Google Play Store.
  4. When the install has finished, launch the app. You will be prompted to allow the app access to various device attributes.听You must accept all of these requests in order for the app to function properly.听The app is only required for the initial setup and can be uninstalled after the setup process is complete.
  5. After accepting the prompts, open听Google Chrome听and navigate to听.
  6. Log in with your 51视频 email and password.
  7. Tap听I've already installed QuickConnect听and then tap听Install Network Profile.
  8. Once the file has finished downloading, tap听Open, which will automatically open the file in the QuickConnect app and configure your device.
  9. Once the QuickConnect app has finished setting up the profile, it will automatically connect you to eduroam to complete the setup process.
    Note:听If your device does not automatically connect to听eduroam, select it from the list of Wi-Fi networks, then long-press on the听UMassLowell Wi-Fi network and select听Forget.

There are no 鈥榝orget鈥� instructions for a Chromebook.

Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network

  1. Click the Home button at the bottom left corner of the screen. Next, search for Settings, then click Settings when the option appears.
  2. Click Network, then click Wi-Fi.
  3. Click eduroam.
  4. You will be prompted to specify information about the network:
    a).听Under the "EAP method" drop-down menu, select PEAP.
    b). Under the "EAP Phase 2 authentication" drop-down menu, select MSCHAPv2.
    c).Under the "Server CA certificate" drop-down menu, select Do not check.
  5. In the "Identity" field, enter your 51视频 email address. In the "Password" field, enter your 51视频 account password. Lastly, click Connect.

To connect a Linux device to eduroam

  1. Click the 'WiFi' icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  2. Click the wireless option, select 'eduroam' from the list of wireless networks, and click 'Configure'.
    • Note: If you see any security warnings during these steps, tap 'Continue' or 'Accept'.
  3. In the 'Join Wi-Fi network' screen, enter the following:
    • In the 'EAP method' menu, select 'PEAP'.
    • In the 'Phase 2 authentication' menu, select 'MSCHAPv2'.
    • In the 'Server CA certificate' menu, select 'Do not check'.
    • Enter your 51视频 credentials (your full 51视频 email address and password) in the 'Identity' and 'Password' fields, respectively.
  4. Click 'Connect' to complete the connection.
  5. If this does not work, please run updates on your system and then reboot.

Game consoles, streaming devices and any other Wi-Fi enabled device not listed above do not connect to eduroam and instead are connected through the My Devices Portal. Instructions for each of these devices can be found on our .
